Breast Cancer Fashion Show Raises Record Amount

Over 30 women with experience of breast cancer took to the catwalk in March to raise funds for Breast Cancer Haven, Yorkshire, which provides free support to women as they go through their breast cancer treatment.

The Ilkley Gazette revealed that they raised a whopping £29,000 at this year’s Breast Cancer Haven Blossom Fashion Show, which will enable the centre to keep providing this vital emotional, physical and practical support to many more women.

There were over 400 guests at the annual event, which saw 33 brave women take to the stage to model clothing from a variety of local and national retailers.

Debra Horsman, Breast Cancer Haven manager, told the newspaper that this event was “the biggest and best yet”.

“The ladies on the catwalk were very inspirational and we were overwhelmed with the support we received on the day,” she said.

Another branch of the same charity, this time in Hereford, will be running a similar event on 20 April at The Left Bank in the town. The Hereford Times explained that it costs £300,000 a year to run the centre, and urged people to support both the charity and the women who will be taking to the catwalk.

If you’ve had a mastectomy, or a double mastectomy, as part of your breast cancer treatment it can be very hard to get your confidence back. Seeing other women who have had similar experiences find the confidence to get up on stage and model can be a great inspiration.
